Amazon Prime Day 2019 – When and What to Expect
Arguably one of the biggest (if not the biggest) online shopping days of the year is just around the corner and we ought to be prepared with everything we’ve got!
What Is Amazon Prime Day?
Amazon Prime Day is the annual shopping holiday meant for exclusive Amazon Prime subscribers. It was launched in mid-July of 2015 to commemorate the 20th anniversary of its founding. Unlike Black Friday and Cyber Monday, Amazon Prime Day lasts up to 36 hours.
This annual event allows all Amazon Prime subscribers to save quite a lot on the huge discounts on all Amazon’s catalog of products, especially Amazon hardware items.
This 2019 edition will be the fifth edition of this successful shopping event. The 2018 edition of Amazon Prime Day resulted in over 100 million products being bought by Amazon Prime users, which saw revenues exceeding $1 billion. This will likely be the case for this year’s edition as well. In 2018, Amazon’s Fire TV Stick and Echo Dot smart speaker were the best-selling products, and this year’s edition is likely to have more surprises that you better not miss out on.
When Will Amazon Prime Day 2019 Be Held?
Amazon Prime Day 2019 begins at midnight (PT) on Monday, July 15, and will run all the way through Tuesday, July 16. In other words, get ready for 48 hours of crazy good deals. Last year’s Prime Day commenced on Monday, July 16 at 3 PM ET and lasted 36 hours. In the previous years, the event lasted for 24 or 30 hours and happened around July 10th – 12th. This year Prime madness will last a full 48 hours.
According to sources, a PR email about a Prime Day vacuum cleaner from Real Homes Team suggested that Prime Day will begin on Monday, July 15. Fingers crossed, we expect it to be held up to 17th July.
How Can I Sign Up for Amazon Prime?
If you haven’t subscribed to Amazon Prime, you still have time to sign up for a free trial and take advantage of the deals. You may not necessarily get everything on your wish list during the Prime Day discounts, but it’s the best chance to stock up gifts for the summer season. However, you can always count on getting the best deals on tech out there.
Being an Amazon Prime member also comes with more benefits. One will also have access to Amazon Prime movies, music, photos, books, and more. You can sign up for a 30-day trial and cancel the subscription at your own will. All you require is an Amazon account with a valid credit card linked to the account. As soon as you sign up for the free trial, you’ll be liable for all the Amazon Prime benefits, be offered with free two-day shipping and participate in the grandest shopping event of the year.
Where Will Amazon Prime Day 2019 Be Held?
We may not have knowledge of the exact countries that will participate in 2019. What we do have is last year’s list of countries that participated in the event, and considered the success of the campaign, they will most likely be joining this year too. In alphabetical order, they include:
- The Netherlands
- The United Kingdom
- The United States
Who Are the Other Retailers Participating In Amazon Prime Day?
Every year, more retailers are trying to be part and parcel of the big Amazon event. There is too much competition and all great things are up for grabs. There will be discounts on clothing items, household goods, and more from other local retailers. In 2018, Walmart joined and offered free two-day shipping without membership fees and free same-day pickup on qualifying items.
They also offered huge discounts on a wide range of products including TVs, tech gadgets like laptops and Google Home devices, kitchen appliances, and much more. Other big-time retailers such as Target, Best Buy, Macy’s and eBay never wanted to be left behind and offered huge discounts for one day on their sites.
We expect more retailers to be part of the show this year. Everyone has been waiting for the summer event and everybody seems to want to be on board!
What Could Amazon Improve on Prime Day?
Last year’s Prime Day was one to remember after the site crashed due to overwhelming traffic. Customers could find their shopping carts suddenly empty, links not working, or they couldn’t find access at all.
This year, Amazon has vowed to anticipate more traffic and will be able to deal with the whole situation. Not only on the site, but also on the cloud service too.
There should also be better deals that will counter the oncoming competition from other major retailers. We expect better deals and better architecture when navigating throughout the site.
What Do We Expect For Black Friday and Cyber Monday?
Amazon is clearly relying more on Prime Day over Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Can you imagine that last year’s deals were 67% lower than Black Friday’s? And this year, the same remarkable discounts will be expected, or even lower.
But that does not disqualify Amazon’s participation in this year’s Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Prime Day will just be the epitome of all Amazon Prime subscribers to find the deals they’ve been waiting for all year.
What are you waiting for? Subscribe to Amazon Prime today and stand yourself a chance of falling for the best deals of your entire lives!
